Dorset Oysters

Dorset Oysters was set up because Pete became frustrated that he could not source local oysters for his restaurant, even though, every day whilst returning to port, he passed the beds of Othniel Oysters, which is one of the largest oyster farms in the UK. The majority of Othniel’s production is exported to France and so is unavailable to the local market.
It was then that he had the idea that he could purify Othniel’s oysters for the restaurant himself. In 2008, Othniel was granted Organic Producer accreditation from the Soil Association. This accreditation, coupled with the quality of the oysters they supply, led Pete to decide to build a hi-tech depuration plant to purify these organic rock oysters and other local shellfish and supply them not only to his own restaurant, but to the open market as well.
