Hoads Farm came into existence sometime in 1805 although references to land called Hoads can be found in this area as far back as the early 1600’s. The name Hoads is derived from Baron de Hoades, a French knight granted the Rape of Hastings by William 1, presumably for services rendered in 1066! In bygone times farms in this part of Southern England averaged no more than 35 acres but with the passage of time many amalgamated so that it is now rare to find farms of this size.
Hoads Farm at 42 acres is therefore, one of the few remaining traditional Sussex Farms with its ancient hedgerows, ditch system and original small paddocks still intact. It is also the base for our high quality free range egg business.
