Saulmore Farm is located on the beautiful west coast of Scotland, in the county of Argyll, only three miles east of the picturesque town of Oban.

The Ronald family have been tenants here since 1992. They rear Native breeds of cattle, Highland and Aberdeen Angus, Scottish Blackface sheep on the heather hills and Texel sheep on the luscious green pastures. All animals are reared with utmost respect and the farm is approved by Quality Meat Scotland. Saulmore is also involved in conserving natural habitats for flora, fauna, insects and ground-nesting birds.

Saulmore extends to 1500 acres of low lying coastal land, adjacent to the Firth of Lorn Special Area of Conservation. The cattle roam on the shores and can be seen eating seaweed and wading in the salt water on hot days to keep cool. Both sheep and cattle are outwintered and fed with home grown silage and non GM cereals. The farm has always been BSE free.

In 1995, Billy and Caroline Ronald, converted an old engine room on the farm into a Farm Shop, where a wide range of local produce is on sale. In 2000, a byre was converted into a cutting room, this enables them to hang, butcher and process the meat in exactly the way that both they and the customer wish.

Caroline is the winner of 2002 National Farmers’ Union Scotland Young Achiever of the Year, awarded on the merit of her involvement with agriculture and diversification on the farm. (Please see Newclip).

With all the ingredients of a well run traditional family farm, Billy and Caroline Ronald look forward to supplying you with top quality produce.
