Woodlands Farm

Woodlands is a 690 hectare mixed organic farm, meaning we grow vegetables, arable crops and keep livestock. The fertility and structure of the soil is enhanced by our cattle, turkeys, sheep and chickens, all of whom play their part in our traditional crop rotations. The soil at Woodlands is grade one alluvial silt, ideally suited for vegetables, especially brassicas for which the area is famous.
In April 2009 we set up a 300 acre biodynamic farming pilot project at Woodlands, our idea being to try and deepen and build upon the organic farming approach being practiced on the farm. We expect to harvest our first certified biodynamic crops (vegetables and cereals) this autumn with turkeys, pork and eggs to follow. Biodynamic produce, which carries the Demeter symbol, meets full Organic Standards.
