How do you switch to a FAT burning metabolism?
I have been meaning to kick things off in our forum for some time, but have been enjoying writing blogs in recent weeks.
Most people will try to boost their dietary habits when one of 3 things occurs.
1. They are trying to lose weight
2. They are trying to get fitter or improve their sporting performance
3. They have had children and want their kids to be healthy
So...if you are carrying a little too much around the waistline how do you shift your body from a fat storing metabolism to a fat burning metabolism?
There are likely a number of different mechanisms. I want to drive this forum topic by offering one tip. When we get right down to a cellular level and look at how the body burns carbs, fats or proteins we are usually told that carbs provide all our energy. A major thing that decreases the cells ability to utilise fat as a fuel is the delivery of oxygen! If we can more effectively deliver oxygen to our cells we will preferentially burn fats as fuel even during exercise sessions. But more importantly after short sharp bursts of exercise, like 15-20 minutes of higher intensity work, we boost the bodies ability to burn fat as much as 10% for up to 15 hours after the workout according to recent research! So fancy that more fat burning during your recovery when you are not exercising. That's my kind of tip!
Would love to hear your tips for helping burn body fat off the belly.
